Busy week coming

anyanka_egThis coming week (actually, possibly this month) is going to be really busy.
My boss' boss is coming over this week. He lands tomorrow evening (he's based in Stockholm) and he wanted to someone to have dinner with so I offered. It's easier for me as a) I live nearer where he's staying, b) I'm not cooking dinner for the next day (more of that later) and c) I'm not so massively pregnant I can't really get behind the wheel of a car! That last one's my boss, she's huge. Also I like spending time with the big boss as he's a hoot. So I'm taking him for a bit of a walk round Manchester, through the Christmas markets and then on to Sam's Chop House, which does great modern British food with local ingredients. Looking forward to the Goosnargh duck. Yum.
On Tuesday we're all (my boss, big boss, 3 managers and a couple of us PMs) going to one of the manager's house for dinner as he's cooking an Indian feast. I love his and his wife cooking so it's going to be great. I've made a bourbon mocha cake. I used this recipe but instead of the coffee essence I put 2 tablespoons (ish) of bourbon in a jug and stirred in two teaspoons of espresso ground coffee. After it had sat for an hour or two, I strained it through some muslin, making lovely coffee infused whiskey which tasted lush. I used that instead of the coffee essence. Oh, and I made a little sticky drizzle of instant coffee, bourbon, melted chocolate, a little hot water and some icing sugar. The drizzle tastes fab and the tiny bit of cake I tasted was lovely. It's all wrapped up now for Tuesday.
Wednesday I have an evening free. Woohoo!
Thursday an old friend from when I did my PhD is up in Manchester for a conference and I'm meeting up with her. We're going for some Japanese food and she's staying the night at my house. So I've been tidying and sorting out the house this weekend as it's kind of gotten away from me a little over the past few months. It's still a little more messy than most folks like but at least all the clean washing is put away and the old magazines thrown in the recycling. I'll have to vacuum on Wednesday evening...there goes the evening off. Oh, and my garden shed has a new roof now too, thanks to my dad.
Friday evening I have to take the cat to my folks for a short stay.
Saturday I'm driving to Leicester to have dinner with some old friends. It'll be excellent to see them all as I didn't make it for last year's pre-Christmas gathering. I must get something for the kids...ooo I can do that at the German market on Monday. Cool.
Sunday I have to drive back up to Manchester to catch the evening flight to Stockholm, where I have a 2 day workshop. I'll be back in the UK on Tuesday evening, when I will be sleeping.
There might be workshop in Helsinki the week after, I think I've got something social that I've booked but I can't for the life of me remember what it is at all. There's the work Christmas party and on top of all that I might be off to Lund, Sweden to meet with HR and have a look around. Oh, and of course decide if I really am going to move to Sweden in the spring.
Ok, that's my week (month). How's yours?
